White Rose Maths

At Vauvert, we follow the White Rose Maths Curriculum. This is adapted to fit the needs of our children and to ensure they receive a broad and balanced curriculum for maths throughout their time in primary. Our goal is not only to teach maths but to create confident and able mathematicians. Below you will find an outline for each term and what is covered across each year group. These are only guides for our teachers and are continually adapted to suit the needs of the children and their next steps.

Number Sense

At Vauvert, we believe that true mathematical mastery begins with a deep, intuitive "feel" for numbers, which is why we utilise the Number Sense program to reinforce and grow our children’s understanding. This journey starts at the very beginning—moving from grasping the "one-ness of one" to mastering essential number bonds and fluently navigating times tables. By dedicating focused time to these core concepts, we provide our pupils with the vital building blocks of mathematical logic, transforming potential anxiety into genuine confidence. This robust foundation ensures that our children don’t just memorise facts; they develop the "maths muscles" necessary to bridge the gap between basic arithmetic and the complex, higher-level problem-solving they will encounter throughout their education.
